Description
This course is structured to meet the requirements of MSHA Part 46.5 New Miner training. This course is intended for the contractor or mine employee that needs the full 24 hours of MSHA training covering all the mandatory subjects. After completion of this course you will receive a MSHA Form 5000-23 training certificate by email from your instructor. This certification is only good for these mine types:
shell dredging sand, gravel, surface stone, surface clay, colloidal phosphate, surface limestone, marble, granite, sandstone, slate, shale, traprock, kaolin, cement, feldspar, and lime mines only.
If you need to work at any mine type that is not listed above, then you need Part 48 certification.
MSHA requires that your company has a training plan to take this course. Mine Safety Campus must be added to your training plan as a competent trainer for New Miner training. If you do not have a training plan, a template is provided in this course. Just download the template and fill in the blanks. We are available to help you with this. For a small fee we can put your plan together for you. Training plans are required by MSHA and will be asked for by the MSHA inspector during an inspection.
Will I Get a MSHA Certificate?
Upon completion of the course a generic certificate will automatically be generated. This is NOT your official certificate. You can give this to your supervisor or safety person to show completion of the course. Once your instructor verifies you have met all the requirements, he will email you a MSHA Form 5000-23 training certificate. The person listed on your company training plan as the person responsible for health and safety must sign your training certificate to be valid. MSHA does not allow third party trainers like us to sign training certificates under Part 46. If you are an Owner/Operator, you will list yourself as the person responsible for safety training on your training plan and then sign your own certificate.
Is Any Additional Training Required?
This course includes the full 24 hours of new miner training. After completion of this course you will be certified to work at any Part 46 mine for one year. You must complete an 8-hour annual refresher course within 12 months to maintain your MSHA certification. When you get to the mine they will conduct their required Site Specific training with you.
